“Jerry came to speak at Eton about Big Wall Climbing and his experiences of sharing a rope with some of the most famous names in British mountaineering. Not only did he deliver a fascinating insight into this exclusive world he also kept us mesmerized with a combination of spectacular photography and awesome tales of adventure. What really dazzled, though, was the sheer range and variety of climbing experiences across the globe that Jerry was able to make vivid in our imaginations. It was, just for example, with sheer amazement that we greeted his descriptions – and photographs – of surviving a direct lightning strike on his body whilst on the mountain in his tent. His dynamism and steely nerve were conveyed to us with a passionate enthusiasm for his vocation, yet all the time with an entertaining lightness of touch that complemented his obviously boundless energy in the field. We were, to be sure, delighted to host such an exciting speaker at Eton College, and can wholeheartedly recommend his presentations to any other establishment – whether for educational or purely motivational purposes.”

“Hi Jerry, you are truly inspirational in how you manage your diabetes whilst involved in the rough high endurance sport of Himalayan mountaineering. Both myself and my astrophysicist husband Pierre Maxted are both mountaineers ourselves, although clearly nowhere near your level. You are a climber of quite some calibre, and I admire your ambition. Thanks for your very useful advice, information and personal tips about managing Type 1 Diabetes in difficult situations and environments. I have sent a donation to your charity already. And I will definitely be in touch regarding one of your motivational talks.”

“As a school, we have been working with Jerry Gore for ten years on a challenging and ambitious annual Year 9 multi-activity week based in Pelvoux, Ecrins Alps. These weeks have proven to be so successful that we have this year run our first Year 7 and 8 trips through Jerry, with equally impressive results. Jerry has very high organisational standards, a fine eye for detail and understands clearly how to create a balanced and rewarding experience for pupils. His skill at motivating 13-14-year olds during his inspirational talks I find particularly impressive. And if I am honest, as a career teacher, I am pretty envious. I have been trying for years to get the effect he manages to achieve in just 40 minutes! Also, for my part, just as importantly, he is also great fun to work alongside.”

“Watched your Eiger chat zoom for the AC the other night, and was completely absorbed by it.  I didn’t get to see the embedded video but that may have been finger trouble on my part. Overall, the pace was about right, the delivery was well structured and informative with a good balance of background of scene setting and integration of your A4D charity as the core theme. Very informative, impassioned, candid and inspiring!
I also liked your structured check list to monitor preparedness for a major event, which in reality can be applied to any adventure at any level to provide improved chance of success. I have used such an approach to plan for many military charity fund raising events, such as our successful NC500 cycle ride last year over 6-days. Your right. It works! Well done again, especially as all those involved were trialling a new format of delivering lectures.”

“Thank you Jerry for your talk entitled Alpine Turmoil '03.Many thanks Jerry for your talk Alpine Turmoil at our annual dinner. Not only was the lecture well presented with some stunning photographs, but it was also very informative and relevant to those planning to visit the Alps. Everyone said how much they enjoyed it as it was obviously very well informed and highly relevant to most of the audience. Your enthusiasm for the mountains is also very evident and gave the evening a very up-beat focal point when we would otherwise have been drinking far too much.”

“Jerry Gore came to Highgate School to give a lecture to the students who are involved in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. He gave a talk on Borneo and his climb in Low’s Gully. It was a most entertaining talk accompanied by slides and video footage. The students were enthralled for the 60 minutes of the talk and asked many questions. I have no hesitation in recommending Jerry to anybody who wants to hear a professionally given and thoroughly enjoyable lecture.”

“Firstly, thank you so much for your ongoing support and significant fund-raising efforts for IFL. You are full of energy and have great organisation skills and congrats on your wonderful new “Race Against The Mountain” initiative. The fact that it could be a regular event and involve such major organisations is very encouraging.
About IDF endorsement I would suggest in the first instance contacting Sir Michael Hirst, IDF President michael.hirst@pagodapr.com and he can assist and also channel you to the right people at the IDF. Michael is very supportive of IFL, and in fact we presented him with an Award at the IDF Congress here in Melbourne in 2013 recognising this over many years.
The funds you have raised will now allow us to kick-start and support our IFL children’s diabetes camps in Vietnam, Cambodia and Ecuador, and assisting with the transport and handling costs for IFL to send donated insulin and other supplies to the children involved. Thank you again for your inspiration, your creativity and your "Never give up" attitude. It is wonderful to have your ongoing support and enthusiasm and I am so pleased my interaction with you has been so helpful. You have bossed my confidence!”

“The feedback from your talk here in Mainz was really very positive – and just by judging on the applause you got compared to what I have experienced earlier – you made quite an impression. Following up on people afterwards and asking what they in particular liked, I’m so happy that you were willing - with short notice - to scale up the more personal part on what it’s like to live with diabetes, as this is definitely what has made a difference for the colleagues and me. A couple of highlights from the spontaneous feedback that I have received:

·         The detailed description of what it’s like for you and your wife to experience a hypo during night (rubbing honey in your mouth, sweating, bath, changing the linen etc.)

·         The emotions that came through when you shared how your daughter reacted in the airport when you were walking in the street with a hypo

·         The fact that it took you as a very intelligent person app. 5 years to learn to manage your diabetes and insulin

·         Your recommendation to talk openly about diabetes – both as a person living with diabetes and their relatives

·         How dependant you are on your insulin – especially when you are on the mountain – with no pharmacy or fridge around with extra insulin

·         And last but not least – the energy that you spread when you are around is contagious.

So all in all – very positive indeed I think. Many thanks again for making the long drive up to Mainz and looking forward to hearing about your expeditions plans for 2013!”

“Many thanks indeed for your lecture Mussel Power. The club is still talking about it and apropos of our chat afterwards I've already started recruiting for our own foray into uncharted peak territory! A very entertaining and inspirational talk. Especially as you managed to turn a concept that to most of us was well and truly out of our league into a very realistic goal.
I think I can safely say that everyone really did enjoy your talk both of the climbing and the sailing. (We all think you're nuts but we are just as bad ourselves so no complaints there.) We'd certainly have no reservations about recommending you and inviting you back to tell us about some of your other exploits.”

“I have had nothing but compliments from the people that attended Jerry's slideshow recently. Whilst his passion for climbing and in particular big-wall climbing is clear there was more than enough material in his talk to interest those that are not climbers themselves. Jerry's talk encompassed not only the climbing that he has done but also the people he has met and the places he has visited and because of his vast experience there was a wealth of tales and anecdotes to satisfy even the most critical observer. A night out with Jerry is sure to be well worthwhile.”

“Thank you again for the great speech last week, it is inspiring for all of us. We are also developing the story for global Accu-Chek intranet as it is a great idea to share this with our team. Thank you again for offering us such an inspiring story of succeeding against Diabetes.”
